5.0 out of 5 stars Love, love, love this pack!!, May 9, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
This pack is so awesome!! I decided to get measured for a pack before I bought one, and am so glad that I did. This pack fit like a glove the first time I put it on and I was able to wear it all day with no problems. It is very comfortable, has lots of padding and I did not experience any back or shoulder pain. I like the venting system against my back as it kept me cool all day long in warm weather. I actually didn't even notice I was sweating until I took the pack off! It doesn't have mesh anywhere on the outside and since I hike in terrain that often has brush and trees, this keeps my pack from getting snagged and ruined as I am wearing it. It has plenty of room for all my gear, and even has room to spare. It does have a lot of straps, but I like this fact because it allows me to adjust around my gear, keeping it secure enough that it doesn't move around inside while I am on the move. The only thing I would like to see on this is perhaps a small pocket on the hip belt for things... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Backpack & Guaranteed for Life, December 9, 2010
By
I have yet to use this back for an extensive hiking trip; but I know it was a great investment. I was pleasantly surprised by how ventilated my back was and how my back muscles didn't ache despite how heavy I packed my bag. Backpacks like these are designed to put the weight on your hips and not on your shoulders/back. *BUT* That's also because I had the straps adjusted to my build.

Unless you're a backpack expert, I highly recommend that you visit a store, have assistance and try the backpack on before purchasing this product. Then you can tell what size to order and how to properly adjust the straps for the best fit and comfort. Also, be patient and don't purchase the first one. (Shop around!!!) Great deals rise up "off season," which is about fall to early spring. I bought mine at the end of the summer when the main hiking season was drawing to a close in Montana. Expect to pay around $200+ unless you buy last year's model, then you can find it for as low as... Read more

Mine is size L in Salsa Red. When I measured myself I thought I was one size, but when I went to the local Osprey dealer, I found myself to be another size. I have a L pack with an XL belt. I see this year they have a beautiful green -- my favorite color!! Since I do a lot of backcountry hiking and snowshoeing, I know the Red is better. If I get hurt or SAR needs to come looking for me, the red is less likely to blend--better for finding me from the air.

The pack is great for load bearing. I have had up to 55# in it for a 15-mile hike and been comfortable for the duration of the hike. Even on my short one-day hikes, I carry enough stuff with me that I could survive a night in the woods if I have to. I also carry first aid supplies since I'm a first responder. (So many people out on the trail in flip flops and nothing more than a 20oz bottle of water...yes, I carry supplies for them.)

There is a loop system for hooking on an additional daypack to the front if you... Read more
