We bought these for the new design (1/4 turn lock is very nice), but we both were surprised to run dry only 2 hours into our ride. Then, we discovered there was water left, but we couldn't get to it because of the wing design. Terrible for biking, might work okay for running. The lower reservoir sits much better on my back! I bought one for my wife just to test it out and just purchased a second one. The material used on the bag is very light and strong. There's just two things that caught my attention after purchasing it...1) Before buying online I had thought the top two zippers opened to the same compartment, however they're separated. I was hoping they would be the same so a larger item could sit in there with the zippers open. 2) Although the reservoir sits on the lower back and is much more comfortable I don't like the way it's made... it has several compartments and, as the other reviewer stated, makes it a little more difficult to suck all the water out. I'd like to see it made without the separate compartments welded into the reservoir, although Camelbak says it's made that way for better strength and so it wraps around the hips better. I bought this as replacement for my larger hydration pack and while I like the design of having the bladder in the waist this pack falls short when it comes to the essential need of a hydration pack and that is being able to drink from it. The tube that comes with the pack is not long enough for the tube to remain full and when you attempt to take a drink you will get about half a mouth full and then a large amount of air followed by very erratic flows of water and air which often makes me cough because I get water in my windpipe. I have heard suggestions regarding getting another tube but after paying for a product I would expect it to work without having to purchase additional items.
