I only needed to fill half of the volume and was surprised at how much room it had. It does seem that one could inadvertently overstuff it and have a tough time with overhead storage on the smaller planes but you could say the same for all soft bags. The top pocket for ease of removing the toiletries bag is really smart and easy to use. The back space holds quite a few rolled-up worn/dirty items. The wheels work really well for non-orbital wheels (think samsonite) and it is nice that this bag doesn't tip over. I watched several others struggle with their bag tipping while in the security line. Downside is that the smaller plane overhead is pretty tapered and so you can either load the bag wheels out (and not in front of the latch or it won't work) or sideways (thus taking up a fairly rude amount of space). However, I really like the bag. (Yes, I do travel light.) The bag is tough, well designed with extra pockets and other useful features, very easy and comfortable to tow (unlike with my last bag, which tended to tip on corners, you can really get a move on with this one if you're running late) and it does make maximum use of the allowance for carry-on space! It's lightweight, but sturdy and holds an incredible amount despite its size. It's almost too big for a weekend trip. It's on the large size if you are going to use it as a carryon, but I've certainly seen bigger bags shoved in the overhead bins. I particularly like the special zip pocket for liquids, and the dirty laundry pocket on the back. The interior straps are somewhat thin, but they do a good job of holding things in place. |
