I had searched for months for a non traditional way to carry all of my tackle/gear while wading in the rivers. I had read reviews on the likes of fishpond, sage, william joseph etc. and liked that they were reputable but being on a budget I could not justify spending $100.00 on a chest pack. Through a search I found the Allen Company line of chest packs on Amazon and was amazed. I purchased the pack at a phenomenal deal, and had no expectations considering the price. The true test is in the field and after 10 or more trips to the rivers wading and walking through high brush/cattails I can truly say that this chest pack is well built and exactly what I was looking for. If you're looking to get a chest pack and want to spend a fraction of the amount you would for a big name brand then this is the company/pack for you. 5 out of 5 for sure I tell everyone I meet out on the water about it. After using a vest for over 35 years (I actually made my first one), I had grown tired of the stiff neck I would get after hours and hours of fishing with the weight of a fully-loaded vest hanging on it. Then, I saw other fishermen using various packs in place of a vest, so I decided to look for one for myself. The Allen Company Black River Fishing Chest Pack/Fanny pack was just the answer I was looking for. It has enough room for between 4 and 8 boxes, depending upon their size. It is well designed and laid out; obviously a lot of thought went into its design. The one drawback I find is that the neck strap does not have enough adjustment - at least for me. In spite of that minor drawback, I find that overall it is a terrific improvement over a traditional vest, and I heartily recommend it to anyone who wants to go "vestless."
